Social Services

Equally significant to the care of the children is the care, involvement, health and bonding of the family unit represented in each child served. The Social Services department and the mission of The Children's Center directly impacted more than 1,500 family members last year.

The Social Services department is the primary bridge builder between the parents and the organization. Each patient is assigned a social worker upon admission. The assigned social worker meets with the entire team of health care professionals to develop the care plan for each child. Then throughout the child's inpatient stay, the social worker relays medical, nursing, education and therapy information to the family. The worker keeps them informed about the progression of the care plan. Likewise, the professional informs the staff of all concerns expressed by family members.

The Social Services department invites families to events, such as picnics and the annual Christmas party. Support groups are an important tool to give family members the chance to meet others who have been down similar roads and to provide a forum for the Social Services department to introduce helpful educational information.
