Pediatric Medical Rehab Unit

The Pediatric Medical Rehabilitation Unit (PMRU) at The Children’s Center currently  provides the only pediatric focused inpatient rehabilitation program in Oklahoma. The PMRU offers a  family-centered, interdisciplinary team approach to medical and rehabilitative care for children and youth. The PMRU is under the direction of Oklahoma’s only pediatric physiatrist, Edward A. Wright, M.D. Families are an integral part of healing and decision-making. The state-of-the art facility, designed specifically for children and families, features a restaurant style dining room, recreational vehicle hookups and parking, laundry room, and an apartment to provide a solid home trial prior to discharge.

In 2011, 97 patients received rehabilitation in the PMRU.  46 of those patients were between the ages of 0-12, and 51 were between 13-18 years of age.
