Many Blessings are Received this Holiday Season

Posted on 01/27/2012

During the holiday season, SandRidge Energy devised a creative way for employees to give back to the local community.  The SandRidge executive team encouraged employees on each floor in their downtown office building to decorate a Christmas tree in support of a local nonprofit of their choice.  Remarkably, The Children’s Center was chosen as the charity of choice by employees on three floors. Even though each floor had a different themethe goal was the same – to bless The Children’s Center as much as possible.

Whitney Bynum, who represented the accounting department on the tenth floor, has a unique connection to The Children’s Center: her daughter receives outpatient care and physical therapy at the Center.

“As a mother of a child with special needs, I know how much love and effort goes into [the patients’] care,” Bynum said.  “There are wonderful kids here and wonderful people here at the Center.”

In addition to collecting needed items and financial gifts, Bynum decorated Christmas cards for some of the patients at the Center.  Each card contained personalized images based on each child’s specific interests, but carried the same message:

“The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
 ~ Zephaniah 3:17

The diapers, personal care items, toys and books collected by the seventh, eighth and tenth floors were a tremendous blessing to The Children’s Center, but the excitement didn’t stop there.  A few days before Christmas, Chris Remmert, who represented the seventh floor, informed the Center that their tree won first place, resulting in a $5,000 gift from SandRidge Energy.  Because of the success of the tree contest, SandRidge decided to also give an additional $500 on behalf of the eighth and tenth floors.

We are thankful for SandRidge Energy and for all of the families, businesses, civic groups and churches who blessed The Children’s Center this holiday season!  Thank you for your generous support.
