The Pediatric Medical Rehabilitation Unit (PMRU) at The Children’s Center provides comprehensive medical and rehabilitative care to children and youth who have experienced traumatic injuries or illness requiring acute rehabilitative care. More about services.

 

 

Mission of the PMRU

"Because we believe that there is hope for restoring physical, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual function to its maximum potential, and that a timely return to the community benefits children and their families,
the rehabilitation team dedicates itself to:
  • Assess and manage health and rehabilitative issues.
  • Encourage retraining of daily living skills and assist with provision of necessary adaptive equipment.
  • Provide compassionate, family-centered care to empower families with information and skills to promote coping and continued rehabilitation.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition into the rehabilitation program and then back into the home and community."
