Patients have complex medical needs as a result of birth defects or complications, traumatic accidents or illnesses.  Average length of stay is 24 months. The age range is newborn to 18 years of age.

Pediatric Medical Rehabilitation 

Staff provide rehabilitation due to a traumatic or congenital injury, sudden illness, or post-surgery treatment.  The average length of stay is 25 days, while the age range is newborn to 21 years of age.

Preventing Heart Disease
Carrie Sommer knows the anatomy of the heart. Five days a week she listens to the hearts of pediatric patients as a registered nurse in the Pediatric Clinic at The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital. She also listens to the beat of her own heart.
February is a reminder of the importance of heart care for Carrie as she has lost two family members to heart attacks.

Teen Volunteer Program

The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital invites teenagers ages 14 to 17 to participate in the VOLUME Summer Program, occurring in June and July. The VOLUME Summer Program is focused on providing teens insight into the medical, rehabilitative and educational services offered at the Hospital, while allowing an opportunity to work directly with the Hospital’s pediatric patients.
